EFFECTIVE PRACTICES IN YOUTH MINISTRY ON DISKETTE OR CD
We now have two PowerPoint Presentations available on Effective
Practices in Youth Ministry.
The first presentation is the results of the National Survey of Best
Practices in Youth Ministry. It gives parishes an opportunity to
evaluate how many practices are operational in their parishes today.
The other presentation are models of Best Practices and give ideas for
planning.

NACYML - National Association of Catholic Youth Ministry
Leaders is a professional organization of ordained and lay ecclesial
ministers dedicated to the field of youth ministry.
Membership in the association is open to adults who view their role in
youth ministry as a vocation, are committed to ongoing development and
ministry formation, and are connected to a Catholic parish, school,
diocese, youth-serving agency or an organization serving Catholic youth
ministry. The NACYML is also open to individuals who independently
serve Catholic youth ministry.

- ONLINE "NEWSHOUR EXTRA": CURRENT EVENTS FOR STUDENTS
PBS (in conjunction with the daily TV "NewsHour with Jim Lehrer") is
now providing resources that help young people discuss controversial
issues in a supportive classroom environment. On their Web site,
you'll find stories written for an by teens that make the issues in the
news relevant to students and show the connections between events in
faraway places and their own lives.
On the main page, you'll find a new feature story every Thursday.
These can be printed out to introduce a topic and generate discussion.
Students can also access them on-line and use the built-in teacher tools
(like vocabulary, maps, and activities) to absorb the topic at their own
pace. "Speak Out" invites teens to comment on controversial
issues. On the "My Story" page, you can read personal essays by
students who have unique, insightful stories to tell. Access the
