Diocese of Richmond: Catholic Boy Scouts

'The scouting experience, a privileged route for spiritual growth, is a valid path that favors the total education of the person.  It helps to overcome the temptation to be indifferent and egoistic and to open oneself to one's neighbor and to society.  It can effectively promote the demands of the Christian vocation:  to be "salt of the earth and light of the world."
                                - Pope John Paul II, Message to the Guides and Scouts of Europe (2003)

The Catholic Church relies on Scouting to provide boys and young men with wholesome outdoor experiences that develop character, fitness, and spiritual growth.

Many parishes, schools, and lay organizations in the Diocese of Richmond sponsor Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, and co-ed Venture Crews.

This page provides resources and information on the many opportunities available to Catholic scouts and adult leaders to strengthen their faith, including religious emblem programs for scouts of all ages and annual retreats.
