Jesus as the fisher of men

God’s Call in Grade School

ASK.
Did you know that God is calling you? From before you were born he had a plan for you. His son, Jesus, has a special place in his heart for you, too. He once said,

“Let the little children come unto me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the Kingdom of God belongs.” Mark 10:14

LISTEN.
God is looking for you to go to Him and listen. He will give you ideas about how to live your life. He might ask you to get married or he might ask you to be a priest or a brother or sister.

Whatever your calling is, remember this:

The Lord wants you to be happy and to feel loved.
This is his plan for your life however he wants you to live it.

ACT.
alter boysWhat can you do to listen to God’s voice? Because he talks to us in so many different ways, try to do these activities and always listen for God’s voice.

Go to church and religious education, youth group and sacramental preparation.
Help with activities in church and at home.
Pray alone and with your family.
Learn more stories from Jesus’ life.
Ask God to help you make decisions.

Vocation Prayer

Dear Jesus,
You are just like the wind! We don’t see you, but we feel your presence; we can’t touch you, but you are always there. You hold us up like the wind holds a kite. We know that you will always be with us. You will show us the way to serve you with our lives. Thank you for being our help. Thank you for guiding our lives.

Amen
