ordination of priestLife and Studies at Seminary

The Diocese of Richmond currently sends its candidates for priestly formation to four seminaries in the USA (see links below). The majority of our seminarians attends St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, MD, and Theological College at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

In many respects, a catholic seminary is similar to any college or university in the United States. However, the seminaries are not simply academic institutions. They exist to foster the spiritual formation of their students who are becoming men of prayer and bearers of the Good News.

Is it really like they say it is? Do they still wear cassocks? Find answers to some Frequently Asked Questions about seminary life.
