Diocesan Strategic Planning Process

All parishes in our diocese are being called upon to participate in a strategic planning process.  The Planning Guidelines and Resource Manual with planning committee forms, sample agendas and prayers can be found at the link at the bottom of this page. Later we hope to add the data for each of the 19 Local Planning Areas.

There will be meetings for all parishes throughout the diocese this fall to more fully explain the diocesan planning process. These meetings are scheduled in the Western Vicariate on Saturday, September 29 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Salem; the Eastern Vicariate on Saturday, October 20 at Immaculate Conception in Hampton; and the Central Vicariate on November 3 at St. Michael in Glen Allen. The purpose of these meetings is to give an overview of the planning process to all interested parishioners and allow a "brainstorming process". After that we anticipate the bulk of the local planning area committee meetings will take place January – May, 2008.

We hope you will pray for the future of our diocese and to the Holy Spirit for wisdom and guidance. If you have any questions about the planning process, feel free to call Beth Neu, Director of Pastoral Planning at: 804-622-5228 or our Research Analyst, Bernadette Snyder, at: 804-622-5227.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Jeremiah 29:11
