WHY DO WE SEND OUR CHILD TO CATHOLIC SCHOOL?

My husband and I have selected a Catholic education for our two children, because our primary objective is to insure a regular, consistent and meaningful Christian religious foundation as a precursor to a successful secular education. Additional considerations, but no less important, are the values that the Catholic Church espouses, in particular its strong anti-substance abuse policy, its endorsement of responsible social behavior and its commitment to the moral and ethical development of the individual student. I was a public school educator for 25 years and I wanted to send my children to Catholic school because I didn't want them to miss learning about God. This year, my child has learned so much about loving God and other people. She has learned prayers and songs that I never knew from my public school education. She has learned to love God, her neighbors and to accept all people. We love Star of the Sea and all that it stands for.

What attracted us to Walsingham Academy was the quality of education it affords us and the good quality after-school program, which we needed at the time. We came to Walsingham Academy not because it is Catholic, but that it is private. There are fewer non-academic issues to deal with in a private school; the atmosphere is positive. The community of parents and students is reinforcing.

We choose a Catholic school for our children to help them grow in the faith. The children learn in an environment that constantly reinforces Catholic values. Their academic year is busy and challenging yet the focus is always the teaching of Christ. Our attempts at parenting and educating our children center around planting seeds of faith that will carry the growth into adulthood.

We have been proponents of Catholic education for three generations. This tradition stems from the belief that Catholic education teaches our children beyond the classroom. It teachers them the values necessary to lead Christian lives so that they can contribute their best to their families, friends, society, and their God.

A school that not only teaches Christian values but expects the students and teachers to live them daily.

I send John to St. Vincent because of the smaller classes; he is known by name by all the staff and personnel; he's given a chance to express himself in whatever area he chooses - whether it is sports, academics, religion or other extracurricular activities offered. He is also encouraged to participate in community service.

The Catholic schools provide a quality of education with a reputation of strong academics and discipline.

We heard it was a very good school academically. The top students at the high school come from Sacred Heart. They are taught to be kind and respectful.
