Diocesan Recognition

"It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you ..." John 15:16

In recognition of the individual's mastery of teaching skills and enrichment in the teachings of the Catholic faith, each catechist is recognized as a CATECHIST of the DIOCESE OF RICHMOND.

Each of the three levels of the PATHWAYS process adds skills and knowledge to the preceding level. Catechists are asked to complete all preceding levels in order to be recognized at their chosen level. For each level completed the catechist will receive a diocesan certificate and catechist pin. Catechists complete both PARISH and SENIOR levels to meet the Diocesan certification norm.

Parish Catechists complete the Self-Evaluation Guide and have their mentor, catechetical leader and pastor/pastoral coordinator sign their guide and send it to the Office of Christian Formation.

Each guide is read by a reader designated by the Office of Christian Formation. The certificate, pin, and approved guide are returned to the parish catechetical leader for presentation to the catechists.

The name of the catechist, parish name, city and level of PATHWAYS achieved are published  in the Catholic Virginian.
