Office for Black Catholics

What We Do

We evangelize and provide opportunities for Black Catholics to participate in activities that blend their faith and culture.

Kujenga

A peer-lead retreat which encourages high school youth to discover their own identity and their relationship with God by providing Christ centered family oriented leadership training through the Kwanza principles and a celebration of culture, customs and traditions of the African American and Catholic ancestors. Kujenga retreats are held annually. “Say not, ‘I am too young.’ To whomever I send you, you shall go; whatever I command you, you shall speak.” (Jer. 1:7)

Annual Spiritual Retreat

The Annual Spiritual Retreat is open to adults of all cultures and provides opportunities to participate in liturgy, prayer, discussion, and fellowship in order to renew our spirituality which often gets depleted with the day-to-day activities and is lead by dynamic facilitator/speaker. The Annual Retreat is usually held the second weekend of November.
