When is an employee eligible for health insurance?
A

The first of the month following their date of hire or coinciding with their date of hire, i.e. if you are hired on the 3rd of the month you will be eligible on the first of the next month; if your hire date is the 1st you are eligible that day.

Is there any other time when an employee can join the health insurance plan or add dependents?
A

Yes, employees can join the plan at open enrollment, which is October 1 of each year. There are also qualifying events that allow employees to join the plan or add dependents at times other than open enrollment, such as; spouse losing health insurance due to loss of job; arrival of a new baby; adoption; marriage or divorce.

Can an employee have dental coverage without having health insurance?
A

No, the health insurance and dental are only offered as a package.

Can an employee have Basic Life insurance without having health insurance?
A

Yes. Also, Additional Life insurance is available at one, two or three times your annual salary.
