A fund set up in memory of David A. Goy who spent a year in Haiti as a volunteer with the Xaverian Brother's Volunteer Program which is supported by the Diocese of Richmond. Soon after David returned to the United States he developed cancer and died. His family has set up a memorial fund in his honor to support the work in Matabonite, Haiti where David did much of his volunteer work. This work is being done in collaboration with Gabriel Thellus a leader of the community of Matabonite. At the present time various groups including campus ministries, parishes and individuals are organizing to create a non- profit board to support the work in Matabonite. A web site is under construction and will soon be available.
A Diocesan fund to support the work of Fonkoze in Haiti which is self described as "the bank for the poor in Haiti." Along with banking services, Fonkoze has an outstanding micro-credit program and a life skills educational program to promote economic sustainability for Haitian families.
The Diocese of Richmond supports the work of the Xaverian Brothers in Haiti by providing funds to help maintain a permanent Xaverian presence in Haiti and to make short term volunteer experiences in Haiti available to lay men and women.
