Mission and Goals
The mission of Campus Ministry in our diocese is to be present to all involved in higher education and carry on the Church's role of cultivating the intellectual life, preaching the Gospel and working with higher education toward the mutual goal of empowering students to realize
their full potential and pursue a life of wisdom. We find fulfillment in Jesus Christ, the wisdom
of God, who reveals the mystery of human existence. The goal of our professional campus
ministers – lay, religious, and ordained; men and women – is to provide vision and overall
direction to the well-being of the academic community and the Church on campus.
Young adulthood is a passage of life when new decisions are made, paths are taken and a place is established in one's community. Young adult ministry is for those in their late teens, twenties and thirties (singles or young families), with varied kinds of work and goals. It provides an opportunity to share friendship, fellowship and faith with other Catholic Christians. Young adult ministry encourages people to interact among themselves, with the parish and beyond. A mark of the ministry is multi-cultural hospitality; everyone is welcome. The ministry is organized by young adults with the support of parish staff, and provides a forum for social, spiritual and educational activities. All are invited to join the fellowship by asking parishes for the ministry and for a local young adult contact person.
