The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is the domestic anti-poverty, social justice program of the U.S. Catholic Bishops. In its now 39-year history, CCHD has strived to recognize and respond to Christ's presence in the impoverished by working toward the empowerment of our brothers and sisters on the margins. CCHD addresses the root causes of poverty in the United States through support of community-controlled, self-help groups and the promotion of education for justice at the local level.
CCHD is supported by an annual collection in US Catholic parishes. The contributions and support of the parishes fund grants for community organizing, economic development and education for justice.
